Why Axel Johnson is a Main Partner of Järvaveckan
6/11/2025
For the ninth consecutive year, Järvaveckan is being held – this year from June 11 to 14 – and Axel Johnson continues as a main partner of the event. Axel Johnson will be present during the week together with our civil society partners.
Axel Johnson’s CEO, Caroline Berg, is co-founder and Chair of the Board of Järvaveckan Foundation. She describes Axel Johnson’s commitment as follows:
“Järvaveckan is about one of the most important things we have: trust – between people, between public institutions and individuals, and between future generations of citizens and today’s decision-makers. That trust is being tested right now, in a Sweden grappling with growing divides, low social mobility, and an education system that, for many young people, fails to deliver on its most fundamental promise – to give all children a fair chance, regardless of where they grow up.
For us at Axel Johnson, our involvement in Järvaveckan is a given. Not as a symbolic gesture, but as an expression of our belief in inclusion, job creation, and entrepreneurship as forces for building a richer, more equal, and safer Sweden. We are convinced that we – together with other businesses, civil society, and the political sphere – can and must be part of the solution.
The numbers speak for themselves. Around 60 percent of young people in Sweden’s most vulnerable areas do not graduate from upper secondary school with passing grades. We know this is a strong risk factor for future exclusion and unemployment. What is needed now is not just analysis – but action. That’s why we invest in concrete initiatives that can give young people their first job – initiatives that foster pride, confidence, and direction in life. One example is the so-called SAO jobs, where part-time work during the school year is integrated into the education of lower secondary students in underserved areas.
At Järvaveckan, people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives come together – united by a shared desire to build a stronger Sweden. It is also an opportunity for us to listen, learn, and challenge ourselves. Because even though we are a company with over 150 years of history, we know that the future demands new thinking.
Being a main partner of Järvaveckan is an investment in that very future – where more young people feel that society sees and values them, where businesses help build bridges to work and community, and where opportunity is extended to as many as possible. We believe in Sweden, and we believe that businesses have a leading role to play in a thriving, cohesive society.”
